Privacy Policy
GoToJail ("we," "us," or "our") respects your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the limited personal data we collect when you visit go-to-jail.com, how payment information is secured through our payments partner Stripe, and how we uphold an industry-leading privacy-first standard across all public safety data.
1. Information We Collect
- Subscriber Contact Information: When you register for an Annual Member Pass, we collect your name and email address to manage your subscription, authenticate your account, and deliver notifications.
- Support & Inquiries: If you submit our Contact Form or email us at publisher@go-to-jail.com, we retain your communication history to address your request.
- Server Logs & Analytics: We collect standard operational log files, including anonymized IP addresses, browser types, and access timestamps, solely to protect server security, prevent abuse, and optimize performance.
2. Secure Payment Processing (Stripe)
All financial transactions for the GoToJail Annual Member Pass are processed through Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway.
GoToJail NEVER receives, processes, or stores your full credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, or security codes (CVVs) on our servers. Your card information is transmitted directly from your browser to Stripe's encrypted infrastructure. Stripe provides us only with an anonymized customer token, card brand, and last 4 digits for billing management.
For more details regarding Stripe's privacy and compliance practices, please refer to Stripe's Privacy Center.
3. Zero Personal Identifying Information (Zero-PII) Policy
GoToJail differs fundamentally from commercial background search or mugshot blotter websites:
- ALL personal names are 100% removed and scrubbed from our booking cards, highlight pages, and audio summaries.
- We strictly forbid search indexing of personal names.
- We do not build, maintain, or sell private consumer background profiles. Our editorial tools focus exclusively on anonymized public safety statistics, charge volume, and judicial release trends.
4. No Sale or Commercialization of User Data
We do NOT sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information (including email addresses or subscription history) to data brokers, marketing agencies, or advertisers. We share information only with trusted operational service providers (such as Stripe for payments and AWS for secure cloud hosting) strictly to operate our platform.
5. Data Security & Retention
We maintain appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards—including SSL/TLS 256-bit encryption for all web traffic, strict role-based database permissions, and physical infrastructure isolation—to protect against unauthorized access or disclosure.
Subscriber account records are retained only for the duration of the active membership plus any statutory period required for tax and financial record-keeping.
6. Questions, Access & Data Deletion Requests
